Writer. Wine Specialist. Serial Entrepreneur.
Hi there, my name’s Ben Franks. Since 2010 I’ve evolved my passion for writing into three successful business ventures. At the age of 16, I founded the international online magazine, Pie Magazine; five years later in 2015, I established Ben Franks Wine, Bath’s leading independent wine consultancy; in the Autumn of 2016, Ben Franks Wine’s success led me to found the all-new specialist wine retailer Novel Wines with my business partner Gyorgy Zsiga.
A thumb in all the pies.
I have worked professionally in journalism, higher education, marketing, hospitality, travel and tourism, and the wine trade in the space of five years. Usually it’s marketing that brings me into these new spaces, but I have also become a mentor to a variety of new generation start-ups.
Basically, I like a challenge.
How can I help you?
You can read some of my thoughts on being an entrepreneur on this website’s blog. I spend a lot of time writing about wine, but I do check in now and again with my two cents. I also offer mentoring to young entrepreneurs for free, especially if you’re looking for investment. There’s only one of me though, so you’ll need to apply here.
I know what it means to be self-employed. For all the highs, it can also be a pretty lonely business. If you fancy a chat, send me an email. I’ll always make time.
